A Little About Me
I’m Vicky Johnson, a certified professional photographer with 22 years of experience, based in Arvada, Colorado near the Rocky Mountains. Over the course of my career, I’ve photographed families, children, and schools across the country, building a strong foundation in portrait photography while developing a lifelong passion for the art of storytelling through images.
That passion began in childhood, when I watched my grandfather carefully develop prints in his darkroom and my father capture life with his camera. Those early experiences shaped the way I see the world and continue to inspire the work I create today.
Now, my focus is on fine art photography, specializing in Colorado landscapes, Rocky Mountain photography, and wildlife photography. Each year I spend time photographing in places that inspire me most, including Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Park, where the beauty of the natural world fuels my creativity. My images capture both sweeping vistas and quiet moments in nature, often transformed into digital paintings that blend artistry and photography. This approach creates unique, painterly works for art collectors and interior designers seeking meaningful pieces for their homes, offices, or galleries.
Alongside creating art, I also love teaching photography. I’ve led workshops in Texas and Minnesota and am currently developing new workshops to help others learn to photograph in extraordinary places like the Tetons, Yellowstone, and beyond. Sharing my knowledge and passion for photography is one of the most rewarding parts of my journey, and I’m excited to expand this side of my work.
As a Certified Professional Photographer through the Professional Photographers of America (PPA), I am committed to excellence and creativity in every stage of my work. My fine art collections are available as prints and on a variety of mediums, making it easy to bring the inspiration of nature into everyday spaces.
Whether through fine art photography, digital paintings, or teaching others how to capture their own stories, I aim to share the stillness, beauty, and wonder I find in the natural world. I invite you to explore my galleries and join me in celebrating the art of photography.
